I did my first playthrough in japanese, because i used to watch a lot of anime and generally find dubs to be either bad and cringy, or just not fit the setting English is not my first language, i've learned enough japanese to be able to understand most easy dialogues, and jp has a ton of my favourite vas edit For my second playthrough, i switched to english for science, and i was positively surprised that in the case of persona 5, the quality of the english dub is generally very high, and almost never feels cringy or jarringly out of place.
I would like to press shift within japanese ime everytime to switch to english and press shift again to switch it back, all within japanese ime i think you are overthinking this, as english within the japanese ime is just english.

Same if you translate from english to japanese, the romaji is under the kanji/kana. The setting is in japan, the characters are japanese, their names are japanese, their clothes are japanese If you care about lip syncing then english is better for you unless you have the ps5 version then i think they added japanese lip syncing. I've been consuming so much japanese and english media that it's a breath of fresh air to listen to chinese dub
It also helps a lot with learning pronunciation.
Idk a heck of japanese, but i feel that the english acting feels a little weird ( in some cases on the gameplay and the dialogue of some nikkes ), but i can understand it better in scenes where don't have subtitles
