I know curseforge is easier but i don’t wanna restart my world i already started. In the end i learned if you're using curseforge for modded, try to repair installation which is located in the three little dots on the top right corner of your my modpacks menu. Truefor those not using the curseforge launcher, look for the forge installer, click on the three lines at the top left corner and find your game version then download the installer After the installer has been downloaded, open it with java then extract/install client then whichever one made the folder that says the version needed should be dragged into versions>folder.
On curseforge, click on the modpack to open the page where it lists all of the mods Up in the top right, there should be a button to open the folder that contains all the folders for that minecraft instance Open that and look for a mods folder Download the appropriate optifine version for your game and drop it into the mods folder

Any launcher has an option to open the directory the modpack is in If you're using the curse launcher, just click on the 3 dots left of the play button, then profile options (i'm not at my computer right now so it could be named differently), then there is a checkbox saying something like allow changes to the modpack Check this, then you can install any compatible mod directly through.
